Wednesday Message for March 1, 2017

A brief connection to God’s Spirit in the middle of the week.

Wednesday Message 3-1-17
Ash Wednesday Greetings,
Today marks the opening of the Season of Lent, the time period prior to Resurrection Sunday, when we focus more on our faith, the sacrifice of Jesus, and the gift God gives us on Easter Sunday.

We begin with the imposition of ashes, recalling Scripture that reminds us…. “… all are from the dust, and all turn to dust again.”  (Ecclesiastes 3:20)

This book of wisdom also reminds us, “the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the breath returns to God who gave it.”  (Ecclesiastes 12:7)

From where we have come, we return.

In some ways, we have to understand that in all the vastness of the universe, we are nothing.  And yet, in all the universe, we matter immensely to God.  (Psalm 8)

This season of Lent, take some moments to remember that you are only as important as GOD sees you.

And we all know what that means…. (John 3:16-17)

Peace in our journeys,
Pastor Steve Melde
P.S.  Remember today, we are offering Ash Wednesday Prayer services in our church library:
7 a.m.; 12:15 p.m.; 5:30 p.m.; 6:30 p.m.
These 30 minute prayer services will focus on the 7 Last Words of Christ, and give you time with the ashes.
