Wednesday Message for January 10, 2018

A brief connection to God’s Spirit in the middle of the week.

Wednesday Message 1-10-18
Wednesday Greetings,

“If you don’t take control of your life, don’t complain when others do.”  Beth Mende Conny

In the month of January I am exploring ways that we can:
Lose the Weight in 4 Weeks:  The Hebrews 12 Method.

One of the things I mentioned in last Sunday’s sermon was that we have given some of our power away…. to sin, to the weight of past mistakes, failures, disappointments, addictions, and more.  And because we have given our power to these things, they are controlling our lives.   And so, we complain.

I challenge you to stop complaining and start taking back control of your life.   Only give your power to the One who will give it back to you… in grace.

Give your life to God in Jesus the Christ.   God doesn’t want to control you for the sake of controlling you.  God wants control of your life to set you free!

So, time to stop complaining and put control where it belongs!  Take the firs two steps!

1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.
–  admit that you are powerless over something in your life that is weighing you down, a sin that has taken control of you, and in actuality, your life is unmanageable with it in power.

2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity
– believe that God has ultimate power, and has more power than that which is controlling you, and that God can and will restore you to freedom in the grace of Jesus the Christ.

Two steps in the right direction.

Peace in our journeys,
Pastor Steve Melde
