It’s Back to School time in southern Arizona. Some of our kids and youth returned several weeks ago, many start tomorrow, and some next week. As grumpy as the kids get, I think they welcome this time of year. It gives them a chance to be with friends again throughout the day, rather than cleaning their rooms… (hahahahahahaha).
I think for most, it’s a return to a routine. And sometimes it’s good to take a break from a routine, and sometimes it’s good to get back into the routine.
Our faith journeys are like that, too. Sometimes we get in a routine that allows us to grow closer to God in Christ, and sometimes… we take a break. Welcome to the world of being human.
So, if you have let go of a faith routine, then maybe during this back to school time it would be good to return.
Our August worship will focus on blessing the mission outreach and partnerships that we are a part of as a church family. You’ll learn more about them and have a chance to be in prayer for them. Maybe it’s time to return to weekly worship.
Our handbell and vocal choirs are returning for rehearsal TONIGHT. 6 p.m. bells; 7 p.m. vocal. We are interviewing for a new Director of Music. Maybe it’s time to get back into the routine of singing God’s praises and leading others in worship.
(Or maybe it’s time to start a new routine and join the choirs!)
Sunday Funday School begins a new season this Sunday. August 5th will be a fun welcome back time at 9:30 a.m. August 12th will begin a three week series on “Being a leader like Moses.” Maybe it’s time to get back into the routine of being a student of the faith and either volunteer in the children’s classes or join an adult class.
Maybe it’s time…..
Peace in our journeys,
Pastor Steve Melde
