(Joshua 10:12-14) Joshua was about to lead the Israelites into a battle against the Ammorites. I don’t think there was any way Israel could have prevailed… on their own. So Joshua cried out and commanded the sun and moon to stand still, and God provided enough light for the Israelites to battle, and they prevailed.
We know, now, that the earth rotates around the sun, so commanding the sun to stand still is no big deal, but having enough light throughout the battle… well, that’s another story.
You see, in this story God did what the people couldn’t. In the battle before them, God provided the light. But the people still had to battle.
It’s like that in our own “battles.” God will do what we can’t, but we still have to be in the battle. The work is ours. We have to do our part; God does God’s part.
God does amazing things: When you can’t; God does!
Peace in our journeys,
