Wednesday Message 1-7-15

Wednesday Greetings,

In Genesis 12:1-9, we are told of the story of Abram and Sarai, well, at least a part of the story.   It’s the first time we encounter them in the Bible.   God says to Abram, “I want you to leave where you are and go to a land that I will show you.”

What?  God doesn’t even have the courtesy to tell Abram where he will be going?   To a land that God WILL show ?

Wow, that’s a lot to ask.

But the scripture tells us that Abram went.

God does amazing things:  When you can’t, God does.

Abram chose to trust God.  Abram didn’t need to know all the details of the trip, not even the final outcome.  He just knew that if God was calling him then God would make it happen.   It’s about God’s plans!

Oh that’s so hard for us.   We are taught from an early age to set the course of our lives.  We get to choose what we’re going to be when we grow up.  We get to choose our home location.  We get to choose everything.  It’s our right!

But sometimes we have to surrender into the plan of God.  And we have to let God lead, even into the unknown.   And I can tell you, if it’s God that’s leading…. it will turn out better than OK.

It’s not easy, the trip wasn’t without challenges.  But when you choose to trust God, God leads you to some amazing places…. and when you can’t, God does!

Peace in our journeys,
Pastor Steve Melde
